Tugali colonialism during the Median Era of Tugali history covers the efforts of the city-states of Oporto Arawica, Gerrares, and (to a lesser extent) Simbopolis to acquire luxury resources by trading with neighboring peoples. In order to accomplish these goals, each of the three city-states dispatched merchants to establish fortalezas across the globe. Competition ultimately led to the Tugali War of Unification, which drew the first colonialist era to a close.
Tugali colonialism affected the histories of several nations. The establishment of Fortaleza Horizonte and subsequent interactions with Altadenica launched the anti-Tugal mindset that carried Altadenica into the Valentine War. The establishment of Fortaleza Dearborn and subsequent interactions with local peoples ultimately led to the foundation of the Centralized Republic of Shecagua. Also, Tugali merchants in the Gobalese Isthmus precipitated the Gobalese Civil War, which brought the autocratic Akytí'p Goldeä and the Uhlie mafia to power in Goba.
