Karmykal Vandernys (born in Simbopolis, Tugal) is an executive of the Simbopolis-based Vandernys Company and is the mayor and founder of the city of Trujillo in the Gordion Colonial Zone.

Early life[]

Vandernys was born into great wealth; his parents, Tymal Vandernys and Barbara de Valencia, were merchants that had launched the Vandernys Bank as a bank that took advantage of poor conditions in the city some twenty years before the Great Simbopolis Flash Flood. He became spoiled by his family's great wealth and squandered millions on drag racing, drinking, and gambling in the countryside and illegally so in Oporto Arawica by the time he was twelve. During a race in Oporto at age seventeen, he broadsided a car while going at 100 miles per hour, crushing the policeman who was driving and his family inside. Vandernys was injured severely by the endeavor; although he recovered and his father paid off corrupt officials in the court to drop murder charges and the accompanying death penalty by blunted axe, he served six years in a prison at Merah (he was deported there by his father as a subtler means of punishment), where his outlook on life would change. At this point, Vandernys was twenty-three.

Later life[]

Vandernys converted to the Gobalese folk religion after he left Merah, and he spent two years in Tibakka understanding the poverty of the people of Goba. He began to donate generously to charity funds that Gobalese mob boss Akytí'p Goldeä permitted within city bounds, and helped reconstruct the city, which had lain in ruins for decades since the end of the Gobalese Civil War. Vandernys returned to Simbopolis and made amends with his family. He re-entered the high schooling system and graduated at age twenty-nine with honors, and after earning a scholarship to CSU in Cielos, Silvermoon, he was exposed to the culture, language, and problems of the Aerumaen people as well. Vandernys graduated in the top one percent of his class as a business/mathematics double major; when he returned, his father passed away, leaving him in charge of the family company.

Vandernys heard about Parseydon Burradur and Maxus Aeruma when they petitioned doge Aguas III of Oporto Arawica for a permit that would allow them to set up the Gordion Colonial Zone, and watched the progress of the colony trickle slowly until he heard news of a valuable gem deposit at Rey Aguas Mountain on Trujillo Cape. He coordinated with local peoples and noticed an exposed myleni vein himself before negotiating with the locals to allow him to found the city of Trujillo, which he also cleared with Burradur and Aguas III.

Currently, Vandernys splits his time between his colonial investment and his home in Simbopolis.
