The Cielos Dam incident was an accident that killed 67 people and displaced over 2,000 when the Cielos Dam in Cielos, Silvermoon after the dam, which had deteriorated with a lack of maintenance, sprang a leak. This "leak" spurted thousands of gallons of water onto low-lying houses in the city, destroying nearly 10% of the city. Most of the victims were retirees, stay-at-home mothers, and their children, as the breach happened during the day when most of the inhabitants were at work in the commercial and industrial districts in the highlands.
The breach was contained very rapidly by dam officials. After the disaster had been resolved, a committee lead by Memaria Tzon accused most local politicians, which had diverted funds meant for dam maintenance to corrupt, personal reasons (the mayor of the city laundered dam money to go and purchase a mansion in Dearborn). Tzon used the destruction of these politicians to propel her to the mayoralty of Cielos.
