Altadena (prounounced ahl-tah-DEEN-ah) is the federal capital of and the largest city in the Federation of Altadenica, and is built on a section of land stretching from Cape Jayrarus to the Simbo River. As federal capital, the Altadenican Falando and the Tharisa reside within the city. Historically a fishing village, Altadena was well-situated for trading when the first lindori shipments from Silvermoon reached Oporto Arawica and Gerrares in the Federation of Tugal; Altadena adapted efficiently and effectively to the new opportunities, growing into a powerful port influenced heavily by Tugali culture. Tharisa Boris I rose to power in the city early on and ordered the establishment of the Altadena Canal, which effectively bridged the Arawdielli Sea to the Simbo River and facilitated trade greatly between seafaring peoples in northern Utara and by way of the passage bridging the Extremytaric Ocean and Arawdielli Sea and those in the Federation of Tugal. Altadena's growing power inspired envy in surrounding peoples, and eventually Boris I was assassinated and replaced at the throne with son. Boris II, however, was not vengeful, and created the Altadena-Mydenica Pact between Altadena and the surrounding cities, uniting them under Altadena in a new nation coined "Altadenica" and forcing the Tharisa to acknowledge the existence of the Falando parliament and oblige a constitution. Cooperation with the other Altadenican city-states magnified Altadena's prosperity.

Altadena's wealth grew even further when merchants from Tugal (the city-state of Simbopolis in particular) founded a series of colonial fortifications along the Simbo River. Altadena forged a trade alliance with Simbopolis and other Tugali city-states on the Simbo River while forging separate alliances with the city-states of Oporto Arawica and Gerrares, who controlled coastal Trinubiaen trade. Growing resentment between the Simbo River Tugali city-states and the coastal Tugali city-states came to a head at the dawn of the Tugali War of Unification. Although Altadena initially sided with Simbopolis and its allies, Simbopolis alienated Altadena because of its relations with Oporto Arawica and Gerrares; Oporto and Gerrares did likewise to Altadena for associating with Simbopolis. Boris III called the Falando together to demand action; the Falando chose not to act, and Boris III dissolved Falando and ordered troops to invade the Simbopolian outpost of Fortaleza Horizonte. The Horizontian War, named for the first battle, was highly successful, but the dissolution of Falando wracked Altadena with revolt. The Battle of Altadena between Boris III and surrounding city-states saw Boris III's loss and the overthrow of the Markiv dynasty. The Falando reconvened, withdrew from the Tugali fortalezas, and elected Mykolayiv Sybin as tharisa Boris IV. Altadena was destroyed by the battle, but Boris IV poured immense material and resources into reconstructing the city.

Today, Altadena is a bustling port whose growth has plateaued as a result of Tugali expansion. Its population, resources, wealth, and military are largely devoted to suppressing tribes attempting to cooperate with Tugal rather than on continued development.
